Elderberry Polyphenols
Elderberry (Sambucus Nigra L.) contains high levels of polyphenols such as anthocyanins. These anthocyanins have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and cellular recycling enhancing effects. Elderberry have been used in 7 clinical studies as an immune system booster (almost 900 subjects in total). Elderberry have been used extensively in health supplements across the World for their reputed beneficial effects in immunomodulation and prevention of seasonal viral infections.
The European elderberry contains predominantly four anthocyanins, with the Cyanidin- 3-O-sambubioside and Cyanidin-3-O-glucoside as the most abundant anthocyanins in Sambucus nigra fruits.
