Tart cherry (Prunus Cerasus) contains high level of polyphenols such as anthocyanins. These anthocyanins have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and cellular recycling enhancing effects. Health effects of tart cherry have been evaluated in over 40 clinical found in PubMed database.
These studies have shown beneficial effects on sleep, cognitive performance, stress, sports performance, and recovery and metabolic function. However, health effects of tart cherry extracts are under keen investigation and both preclinical and clinical reports are emerging constantly.
