Chaga – Calming and protecting the skin
Chaga (Inonotus Obliquus) extract can be used for many different application areas, one of which is cosmetics. A customer who tested chaga in a face serum application reported the following test results: smooth skin, radiant look, less wrinkles and a cleaner face.
Chaga has exceptionally high amount of antioxidants. In fact, it is 10 times higher than for example blueberry, which is also known for its antioxidative properties. Because of this chaga has been used widely in anti-age products in Asia, especially in China and South- Korea. The main antioxidant in chaga is superoxide dismutase (SOD). It helps the human skin to protect itself from free radicals that are trying to damage the skin. For example pollution and stress are causing free radicals.
Chaga also contains many different B-vitamins, polyphenols and beta-glucans that have a calming effect on the skin. Beta-glucans support the renewal process of skin cells and are also combatting redness.
Another reason to use chaga extract in cosmetics is its melanin content. Melanin protects skin against UV rays, and it is also the reason why the skin gets tanned. Melanin makes chaga a good ingredient for evening out the color differences in the skin.
Eevia Health’s chaga extract is produced from wild raw materials growing in Finnish Lapland. All of our ingredients are organic certified. In addition to the effects on the skin, chaga has many other great benefits for human health, such as improved metabolic health.
